NINEVEH

A thousand stars are dying, baptized in Jonah’s flesh, fires for the crying, burn our shadows to ash.

Nineveh, Nineveh on fire! Fire! Burning in Jonah’s eyes – cursed by the word of a liar! Liar! The roll of a loaded dice.

A thousand stars are dying, darkness crawl from the east, dressed in eyes and iron, carry the mark of the beast.

Nineveh, Nineveh on fire! Fire! Burned by a foreign god – cursed by the words of a liar! Liar! Money instead of blood.

Nineveh, Nineveh on fire! Fire! Burning in Jonah’s eyes – cursed by the word of a liar! Liar! The roll of a loaded dice.

A thousand stars are dying, animals walk the earth, burning birds are flying, sons of those who crawled in dirt.

Nineveh, Nineveh on fire! Fire! Fire that falls like rain – cursed by the words of a liar! Liar! Will you endure this pain?

A thousand stars are dying, baptized in Jonah’s flesh, fires for the crying, burn our shadows to ash.

Nineveh, Nineveh on fire! fire! Burning in Jonah’s eyes – cursed by the word of a liar! Liar! The roll of a loaded dice.

Nineveh, Nineveh on fire! Fire! Burning in Jonah’s eyes – cursed by the word of a liar! Liar! The roll of a loaded dice.

SNAKE PIT

Can’t you feel? Can’t you feel? Can’t you feel? Can’t you feel the world is a shapeshifter, honey, changing face every day? Can’t you see the small girl behind every woman in that trade? Can’t you see every customer wants good value for a night on the town? Can’t you feel the slight vibration from the train crash under ground?

Can’t you feel? Can’t you feel? Can’t you feel? Can’t you feel the sun is a burning bitch, baby, for those who sweat every day? Can’t you see the devil behind every person in your trade? Can’t you see cotton is sharper than knives for songbirds in the field? Can’t you hear the dogs? They’re barking baby, don’t get killed.

Can’t you feel? Can’t you feel? Can’t you feel? Can’t you feel the bullet is far from shot and the fuse has not been lit? Can’t you see the war going on down below in that sulfur pit? Don’t you know the heart is a muscle now, baby? The beat is far from kind. Can’t you see the snakes crawling over each other, deaf and blind.

KINGLY INFANT

If only you could see me, acknowledge my existence, see beyond the gray mist of my self-resistance, tell me I am worthy to live among the living, tell my self-denial “don’t be so unforgiving.”

If only you could see me, the fiend within I wonder, could I bear it with me wherever i may wander? The heart I know was stolen by the shadow-breaker, transcended by the void and slaughtered by the maker.

If only you could see me, who dwell among the shallow, could you bring me solace when the skies are narrow? Would you smile back at me, by the finite portal? Say “enter this and see a dead becomes a mortal.”

If only you could see me, but then i know – you couldn’t – make your cold eyes warmer, too much at stake – you wouldn’t – denounce this kingly infant, halt her blind ambition, make her love the shadow the beggar and the vision.

DOGS OF HABANA

Dogs got tics and fleas, yeah baby, I got only tics – you get that when your daddy is playing dirty tricks with your mind like shooting down everyone you love, saying that money will fall down from above.

So when my eyes seem goofy and I make stupid sounds, just laugh at me cos I’m alive, yeah, I’m still around.

Dogs got tics and fleas, yeah baby, I got only tics – and my words that stutter like bullets into bricks, when your daddy say “dear daughter everything’s okay, but you are just a lazy child that wanna play all day.”

So when my eyes seem goofy and I make stupid sounds, just laugh at me cos I’m alive, yeah, I’m still around.

Dogs got tics and fleas, yeah baby, I got only tics – your skin is kind of greasy but an execution sticks. So listen up now daddy, I hope I’m not too rude – I really like this dungeon but I need some kind of food.

So when my eyes seem goofy and I make stupid sounds, just laugh at me cos I’m alive, yeah, I’m still around, still around, yeah, I’m still around.

WHITE WIDOW

My lipstick glows just like a bloody full moon, necklace dazzling like a thousand stars, a coral reef on my wrist like bangles, black eyeliner like seaweed from afar – yes, black eyeliner like seaweed from afar.

The mighty ocean’s deep blue endless body shakes her water off the ragged coast, I rise up through the golden twilight surface – I am what every man has wished the most – yes, I am what every man has wished the most.

I undress and show you things to die for, I know you wanted them all through your life, now get your clothes off give me your horizon, I’m no lady – no, no i am your wife! I’m no lady – no, no i am your wife!

Come on and lay down by my side my darling, forget the dry wells where you’ve been, my body yearns for rivers full of silver, enough to give me long and pleasant dreams – yes, enough to give me long and pleasant dreams.

I move my hands across your crooked body, down to your hips where I drop your spine, I tell you stop this feminist old nonsense, just plug it in and unleash the man behind! Yes, just plug it in and unleash the man behind!

Walk with me a demon with another, our fantasies will dry this ocean clean, we’ll rid the waves of oil and vain illusions, I’ll make you realize it’s not a dream – yes, I’ll make you realize it’s not a dream.

DEAD PUPPY SONG

Unlike people you waved your tail when you saw me. Unlike people you waved your tail when you saw me. Unlike people you waved your tail when you saw me. Unlike people you waved your tail when you saw me.

There ain’t no lying in a dog’s eye, now I gotta bury you, son, under your tree – your heart was bigger than me, your heart was bigger than me, yeah.

Unlike people you licked my hand when you saw me. Unlike people you licked my hand when you saw me. Unlike people you licked my hand when you saw me. Unlike people you licked my hand when you saw me.

There ain’t no lying in a dog’s eye, now I gotta bury you, son, under your tree – your heart was bigger than me, your heart was bigger than me, yeah.

Just like people you had to die in the morning. Just like people you had to die in the morning. Just like people you had to die in the morning. Just like people you had to die in the morning.

There ain’t no lying in a dog’s eye, now I gotta bury you, son, under your tree – your heart was bigger than me, your heart was bigger than me, yeah.

CALAMITY JANE

I can never feel for you like the way i used to do. I was yours now you have won, my heart is lost all faith is gone. To me your words were always kind, now I realize I was blind.

You say you’ll end your life if i leave – well that is your choice and i won’t grieve.

I never trusted anyone as much as you look what you’ve done. I gave you love you shattered mine, broke my heart a thousand times. You went behind my back and lied, left me alone and crucified.

You say you’ll end your life if i leave – well that is your choice and i won’t grieve.

I tried to make our house my home, but you just left me all alone. For years i thought you loved me too, but in your heart was only you. I thought you were the one you said, now I wish that you were dead.

You say you’ll end your life if i leave – well that is your choice and i won’t grieve.

There I was but where were you? Dreamed you were with someone new. Pack your things and say goodbye, I will never live a lie. I will find the perfect man, you will die by your own hand.

You say you’ll end your life if i leave – well that is your choice and i won’t grieve.

You say you’ll end your life if i leave – well that is your choice and i won’t grieve.

HORSEFLY WOOD

I can’t find them, I can’t find the children, are they lost forever? Lord, help me!

I’ve been searching, I’ve been searching for them, long-lost children in the horsefly wood.

I can’t find them, I can’t find the children, are they lost forever? Lord, help me!

I’ve been searching, I’ve been searching for them, long-lost children in the horsefly wood.

Who has left them? Who has left them dying? Are they lost forever? Lord, help me!

I’ve been searching, I’ve been searching for them, long-lost children in the horsefly wood.

Have you found them? Are they walking with you? Can you lead me to them? Lord, help me!

I’ve been searching, I’ve been searching for them, long-lost children in the horsefly wood.

In the turmoil, in the rocky river, in the foaming water, Lord, help me!

I’ve been searching, I’ve been searching for them, long-lost children in the horsefly wood.

Were they praying? Were they singing to you? Did you hear them praying? Lord, help me!

I’ve been searching, I’ve been searching for them, long-lost children in the horsefly wood.

Will I find them? Bring them food and water, if I keep on searching? Lord, help me!

I’ve been searching, I’ve been searching for them, long-lost children in the horsefly wood.

Lord please help me, help me find the children! Are they lost forever? Lord, help me!

I’ll keep searching, I’ll keep searching for them, long-lost children in the horsefly wood, in the horsefly wood, in the horsefly wood.

PURPLE ARROW

I see you on the highway, Purple Arrow in the sky.

I know you in the skyline, in the harbor, I’m alive.

I find you on the sidewalk, in this Memphis of my dreams.

I move you from the backyard to the centre of the world.

I hear you paint the landscape with the colors of the wind.

I see you on the highway, Purple Arrow in the sky.

I see you on the highway, Purple Arrow in the sky.

I see you on the highway, Purple Arrow in the sky.

27 Club

It was a celluloid photo burning in the late night wind, and the ticket to Eden somebody tried to win. It was a shout in the night that echoed and died in vain, for the wall was a wall of darkness and deep slow pain.

And the microphone singing was all that they left alone, it was a ticket to Eden that led away from home. It was a grind in a mill that cracked every single bone, but the words they carved were still in the cold stone.

And their long eyes dried in the dark at the local pub, and the cars were running outside the 27 Club. They all took to the highway and speeded along the sea, and the pain that hit them dragged them into the deep.

And the records sold were an echo in that wall, covered in a story to sell and tell them all: that the ticket down to Eden is a ticket none can buy, it’s a journey only for them who live to die.

GUERILLA LULLABY

Sleep my little ray of light, be a sun tomorrow, then you’ll dance all through the grass, run like an arrow.

Sleep my little superboy, put on your suit tomorrow, then you’ll shine my little star, be this city’s hero.

Sleep my little willow-leaf, look to the south tomorrow, then you’ll stretch out over the pond, shade the rabbits’ burrow.

Sleep my little buccaneer, sail the seas tomorrow, then you’ll find a treasure chest together with Jack Sparrow.

Sleep oh little heart of mine, sleep until tomorrow, then you’ll see the morning sun shining through your window.

OLD MOONSHINER

Dear mother my mountain of silence, full of thick charcoal lines, up ‘gainst the back of a donkey, going up to the mines. Pickaxes rusty abandoned, old veins from the year of the flood, machines now lost in the river, meltwater hunger and mud.

Yes, I know mother – you’re sucked dry. Will you even bother when I die? Here’s to you mother, lowland rye – the moon will shine down on me when I die.

I wrote you three letters to tell you how much you would cost me to die, where nothing but sulfur is shining, where only the birches grow high – denied of all I have sought for, believed I was made for a cause, where rocks were my bed and my skyline, to rest on the bones of my horse.

Yes, I know mother – you’re sucked dry. Will you even bother when I die? Here’s to you mother, lowland rye – the moon will shine down on me when I die.
